Chivalry
Well, what do you think folks, is chivalry dead? If it's not, should it be dead?
Chivalry is rooted in sexism, no matter what way you look at it; the rules came from a time where men were considered better than women and men had to do everything for them.
But nowadays, when men and women are treated by and large as equals, is a man holding a door open for a woman considered chivalrous or sexist?
Personally, I would love for a guy to hold the door open for me or open my car door, but ordering my meal for me would piss me off.
What are your views on chivalry? Leave a comment or two, let me know what you think- I want this blog to be as much me talking to you as you talking to me and to each other.

Well, I think I've discussed this with you before, but here's my opinion.
It's polite to hold a door open for someone, but I don't think it should necessarily be a guy holding the door open for a girl. I hold doors open all the time for others, male or female. This I think is just polite, not necessarily chivalry.
Ordering my meal for me would piss me off big time. I would probably not go on a second date with a guy that did that.
I would mind him taking my coat, but trying to put it on for me would probably piss me off.
So I believe there are limits to chivalry and what can be accepted. I'm a strong, independent female of the 21st century, and things I view as invading my sense of independence would probably upset me. But I wouldn't get upset at something that just seemed polite. But I also wouldn't get upset if he neglected to do these things.

How did we discuss this before? I don't think we've met outside of this blog...Anyway, that seems like a pretty cool view

Perhaps I'm thinking of a different Nobody. It's a fairly common name ;).

Pretty much the same as BlossomHannah, I like people to be nice, but if I had a choice between a guy who is a little too protective and pampering than a guy that is a jerk, I will pick Mr. Old fashioned, just saying.
