Dx

Hi guys.

I've been a bad daily blogger

I missed yesterday

and my other posts lately haven't been that good.

It's Passover. And I'm going on a trip soon. And I have scenes and dances to memorize.

Don't kill me

Rant

To steal a rant idea from  one of my favorite books, Big Fat Manifesto, I'd like to talk about lead roles and big girls.

Why can't Juliet to be plus-sized? Why can't Roxy be big? Why must Belle be the size of a twig?

Because people are idiots, that's why.

Now, I'm not saying the director aren't good people or anything, no, not at all. But why do you always cast the big girl as either the villain or the mom? Most of the big girls I know have insanely amazing voices, they can really belt.

Don't get me wrong here, it's fun playing the villain and mom, but I WANT TO BE A LEAD ROLE FOR ONCE! And not just in Hairspray (though that's a great musical).

Are we not allowed to fall in love? Does it just not happen?

If you said yes to that, I will come through the computer and go Tybalt on your ass (current role, just got back from rehearsal, it's on my mind, so sue me.)

YES a big girl can be the object of Romeo's affection! WHY IS THIS SO HARD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND?

Oh, that's right. Society decided to create the paradigm for female lead roles as girls who wear a size negative one, and that's after they've had a big meal.

I've seen a director cast a mediocre girl in a lead role over a fantastic person for the part, and I'm almost 100% positive that it was because the girl who got it was a stick and the girl who didn't eats three meals a day.

God, people annoy me.

Wow! A double-post! Aren't you lucky -_-

If you don't think you can do something, how the crap do you expect other people to believe you can?

Like, take acting for example.

If you're playing Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, and you don't think you can do the part, that you're not believable you won't be believable. Period.

Honestly, if you don't believe in yourself, you're not getting anywhere in this world. Granted, you might not get anywhere anyway, but you get the gist of it.

Promises, promises

Your word is the most precious and fragile thing that you have to give to someone.
So make sure it's good.
Keep your promises.
Even if they weren't official promises, if you say you're going to do something, do it.
Like even something as simple as "I'll text you tomorrow, okay?" is important.
Someone may be counting on you.

Masks

We all wear masks.

It's just a fact of life; we act differently around different people, and we can't even be honest with ourselves most of the time.

I believe that life is a masquerade, and we are all just guests. The lucky ones are the jesters, the ones who can take off their masks. They get laughed at, but they show who they truly are.

I want the courage to become a jester.

Chivalry

Well, what do you think folks, is chivalry dead? If it's not, should it be dead?

Chivalry is rooted in sexism, no matter what way you look at it; the rules came from a time where men were considered better than women and men had to do everything for them.

But nowadays, when men and women are treated by and large as equals, is a man holding a door open for a woman considered chivalrous or sexist?

Personally, I would love for a guy to hold the door open for me or open my car door, but ordering my meal for me would piss me off.

What are your views on chivalry? Leave a comment or two, let me know what you think- I want this blog to be as much me talking to you as you talking to me and to each other.

Zombies and Q

Don't you hate it when you think you buried something, then it rises from the grave to eat your flesh? Um, wait, that's zombies. I think I meant "rises from the grave to bother you again." Yup, that's the one.

Like Q. I had forgotten alllll about Q. And then Q decided to remember me. Joy-oh-joy.

Q was a human (not a zombie) I used to like and who I had embarrassed myself in front of irreparably. That was a few years ago, and I figured Q had forgotten all about me, or if he remembered who I was, brushed the memory off like a shower of dandruff.

Apparently not.

See, I had convinced myself Q hated me and was ridiculously annoyed by me, so I decided to forget Q. Apparently Q wants to see me this weekend. Wow, I'm confused.

What do you think? Can friendships (or potential ones) be ruined (or not started) because of what people think the other person thinks of them? Why are what you think the other person thinks, and what they actually think sometimes so drastically different? Leave your answer in the comments (which are working again).

Spring Awakening

Spring Awakening and the issues it discusses.
I love this musical for three reasons.
1) The music
2) The intensity of the emotion
3) The topics it brings up.

Now, number three might seem a bit odd. But it's important. Spring Awakening deals with issues like abuse, sex, and suicide. All set in late 19th century Germany. I think it's important to address issues like these, and what better way to do so than through a medium people can be moved by?

This rock musical is phenomenal and emotional and I can't really say much else right now, because I have to go shower xD

As the Italians say, "Art is long; Life is short."

Family

You either love 'em or you can't stand them.

Personally, I think family is one of the most important things in the world. Why do I think this?
Well, first off, you share a common history with them (to go ahead and set things straight, I'm talking about extended family as well.) You all come from the same place, each new member adding a little more flair to the history.

You need people who you can count on, who will be behind you no matter what. My cousin is my best friend, for instance. I know she would support anything I do (well, except maybe murder, but I don't even think family could support that xD) as I would for her.

But here's a nice question: When do you draw the line? When is your family too much? If they go to jail, do you still support them? If they convert to a different religion, do you still support them? If they turn out to be gay, do you still support them?

Some people would say no.

Let me know what your take on all of this is, leave a comment and tell me.

P.S. Sorry the comments weren't working earlier, it should be fixed now.
P.P.S. Also leave a comment with ideas for me to talk about, I want to know what you want to hear.

Read Me

Should I really post daily if nobody reads this? What, might I ask, is the point? If you care, leave me a comment. If not, I'll stop my daily blogging and only do it like two or three times a week.

Imagination

I would give my right pinky toe to have the imagination Lewis Carroll had.

Can you imagine a world all your own, with creatures and words no one has ever thought of before? I wish i could. I think I'm going to try.

Lewis Carroll is my favorite poet, because he wrote "The Jabberwocky", a poem I have been obsessed with since I was a little kid. In 4th grade I made my dad teach it to me, and now I can only recite it in a British accent because that's how he taught it to me, and frankly, I think that's the best way to say it.

P.S. Tim Burton is a genius. I  would give my left pinky toe to have his imagination.

Poetry Post #1: Ruins

She looks on mournfully

as her parents
friends
teachers
family
slip away

A bystander in the game of life.
A piece not yet moved,
a future undecided.

Four fingers and a thumb
curl into a fist,
and,
hard and fast,
collide with a window
shattering the view
of her world.

Breathe, she tells herself.
It's over.
And she leaves it
all in
ruins.

Cars and Brain Soup

Even though you know something is true, you should still talk about it.

X, this explanation is for you.

I was on the phone with X the other day, and I was totally freaking out. I was freaking out because I was afraid that I was going to do something ridiculously stupid and hurtful. X was shopping for a car in the Iwonna.

Now, X and I are really good friends, and so I was expecting him to help me.

"Have you done anything?"
"Well, no."
"I knew you wouldn't. What car do you think I should get?"

Now, I've talked to X again recently, and he said that he was worried about me doing the stupid thing all night.
I believe him.

I also believe, however, that even if you know someone won't do something, you need to talk to them about it. Because they don't usually know.

I didn't know.

Friends are supposed to be there for you, so you can talk to them, and they can help you put the soup that used to be your brain back into your head.

What a way to end a post. Brain soup.

Pretty

"I'm not saying that you are "unattractive" by any stretch of the imagination."

Well now. That's an interesting way of putting something.
First of all, I would like to make it clear that I am not attacking the person who wrote this, he happens to be a very close friend who was trying to make me feel better.

No, I'm not too happy with his choice of words.

Have the word "pretty" and all its synonyms suddenly been ostracized from the English language? I mean, it's not difficult to say "Dude, that's pretty awesome!" and "You're totally right!" so why not be able to take two of those words and put them together. "Dude totally"? No. "That's right"? Try again. "Totally awesome"? Really now people?

Try "You're pretty". It's two words that can have an insane impact on a girl, and it's not at all hard to say!

I mean, "I'm not saying that you are "unattractive" by any stretch of the imagination." is quite a mouthful.

Giving someone a compliment can make their whole day. Trust me, I know. However, doing your best not to give a compliment without hurting someone's feelings can have a suckish effect.

Yes. Suckish is an adjective.

To put it simply folks, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

Welcome!

Hi there! You've found a way to my blog! Good for you =) Now, you don't know me, I don't know you, let's keep it that way, shall we? However, if you really want a name for me, just call me Nobody (5 points if you can tell me what Greek myth that's a play off of). Because that's what I am, a teenage Nobody. As for some background, that will come in time (if I'm feeling generous). All you need to know is that I'll be using this as a way to voice my opinion, rants, and occasional piece of literature in this big world we call the internet, and hope that maybe some other teenage Nobodies will listen.
